This is is the kind of thing that keeps me up at night. As a Jalopnik reader I'm sure you know that BMW never felt the need to make a fully hotted up wagon. That glaring hole in BMW's line is one of the reasons I drive an S4 avant but as much as I love my car, I would drop it in a heartbeat for what you see above.

It's just so damn proper that it hurts. The E91 Touring wasn't much to look at in 328 and 335 guise but with those flared wheel arches, quad exhaust and swollen hood, goodness gracious me, I'm salivating. Granted, I don't know if this beautiful rig has it where it counts, but I'm guessing that one would not go through the trouble of making an E91 appear to be an M3 and not swap the engine as well.

Owner, you are a great person for investing the time and money into this project. If you're reading this please get in touch, I need to shoot a piece with your car.

But seriously, this is what I want to drive forever, or an E60 M5 touring, or an E39 M5 in LMb

what are you talking about? BMW has never felt the need to make a fully hotted up wagon? That's silly

BMW has produced E60 and E34 M5 wagons. They've made also E36 Alpina wagons.

They've done a E46 M3 wagon prototype but not a street version

Something is telling me this is just a dressed up regular E91. It looks a bit off.

That exhaust isn't right for the E90 bumper. Sticks out too far. Probably off of an E92 M3 (they have an inch or so longer rear end). Did you see this in person??? Would love an interior picture.

In my excitement over this post I forgot to clarify that statement. What I meant was a fully hotted up 3 series wagon. I watch E60 and E34 M5 wagon auctions and classifieds closely, almost pulled the trigger on this one prior to buying my S4.

The E46 M3 prototype is beautiful, shame it never made it to production.

Yep, all my "In The Wild" posts are photos I've taken. I was going to snap some interior photos but decided against getting all up close and personal with a stranger's ride. I've seen people lose their shit for less on the street I was on.

I agree, the exhaust does jut out in an odd kinda way, could just be the owner's thing rather than him being lazy and sticking E92 pipes on an E90 bumper.

I love that build, that guy did an absolutely fantastic job. This was the first time I'd seen one in person, I did a full on double take, walked around it a few times and lingered in the area hoping to see the owner come back so I could chat him up.

Eventually my g/f got annoyed and we left.

The internet and Autotrader say otherwise.

'07-10 335i came with the n54 and '11+ had the n55

Your original post was talking about touring correct? You can not get an e92 with the n54/n55. The e91 in the USA only came in RWD 328 or AWD 328xi with the NA straight 6 n52/n51

The only difference between the exhausts is the length of the tips. Shame you didn't get the interior though - probably could've figured out whether the engine was indeed swapped (DCT would've been a dead giveaway, not available in the E91 328). Either way, I'm going to pretend in my mind that there was an S65 in there even if there wasn't. That conversion is just SO damn cool!

Original post was walking about touring and you are correct, but you already knew that.

What had me thinking the E91 335i existed was the ultra rare M-Sport package that was available for the E91.

Thanks for correcting me.

Indeed it is, I found one in Milwaukee and one in SD but I had already bought my S4. Once I tire of the Midnight Missile, I'll probably see what all the fuss over this "Ultimate Driving Machine" is all about.

I'll admit - as a dude who isn't a car nerd, I've never understood the lust a lot of car nerds have for wagons. My brother seems to think everything would be better as a wagon.

But this one...this one I like.

For me it comes down to being able to afford only one vehicle at the moment. A fast wagon is both practical and fun.

When I'm at a place in life where I can afford/store two vehicles I'll switch to a fuel efficient wagon and a coupe.
